FAQ

How does weight change with age?

How can you find out if your weight has changed?

If there are less calories than muscle mass, then weight loss is possible. This means that calories must be consumed at a rate greater than energy. Activity levels are the most common reason for weight loss. Other reasons include poor eating habits, stress, hormone imbalances, certain medications and illness. When there is more fat than muscles, it's called weight gain. It occurs when people consume more calories per day than they need. Common reasons include overeating, increased physical activity, and hormonal changes.

Our bodies lose weight because we eat fewer calories than we burn. When we exercise regularly, we increase our metabolism rate which burns off more calories throughout the day. But, this does not mean that we will be thinner. It is important to know if we are losing weight or gaining muscle. If we are burning more calories than what we eat, then we will lose weight. But if you consume more calories than you burn, you're actually storing them for fat.

As we age we tend to be slower in moving and thus we don't move nearly as much. We also tend eat less than we used to. Therefore, we tend to put on weight. However, our muscle mass is more important than we realize and makes us appear larger.

If you don't weigh yourself every week, it's impossible to determine how much weight has been lost. There are many different ways to measure your weight. You can measure your waist, hips and thighs as well as your arms. Some people prefer to use bathroom scales while others like to use tape measures.

Track your progress by measuring your waistline and weighing yourself every week. You can also take pictures of yourself every few months to see how far you've come.

Online measurements of your height and weight can help you determine your body mass. For example, if you're 5'10" tall and weigh 180 pounds, you'd probably weigh 180 pounds.

How can I live a life that is full of joy every day?

Find out what makes YOU happy. This is the first step in living a life that you love. Once you know what makes you happy, you can work backwards from there. Asking others about their lives can help you to see how they live the best life possible.

Dr. Wayne Dyer's book "How to Live Your Best Life" is also available. He speaks about happiness and fulfillment in all areas of life.

What should you eat?

Eat lots of fruits and vegetables. They provide vitamins and minerals to keep your immune system strong. Fruits and veggies are also high in fiber, which makes them filling and helps with digestion. You should eat at least five servings per day of fruit or veg.

Make sure you drink plenty of water too. Water flushes toxins out of the body and helps to feel full between meals. Drink about eight glasses each day.

Consume whole grains and not refined. Whole grains have all their nutrients intact, including B vitamins, iron, zinc, magnesium, calcium, and protein. Refined grain has lost some of its nutrition.

Avoid sugary drinks. Sugary drinks can be a source of empty calories, which can lead to obesity. Choose water, milk or unsweetened tea instead.

Avoid fast food. Fast food is low in nutritional value. You won't get the energy you need to function well, despite how delicious it may be. Instead, stick to healthier options such salads and soups as well sandwiches and pasta.

Try to limit alcohol intake. You can reduce your intake of alcohol by limiting the amount of empty calories. Limit yourself to no more than two alcoholic beverages a week.

Reduce your consumption of red meat. Red meats can be high in cholesterol and saturated fat. Opt for lean cuts of beef, pork, lamb, chicken, fish, and turkey instead.

How do I get enough vitamins for my body?

You can obtain most of your daily requirement through diet alone. Supplements may be necessary if you are not getting enough of a particular vitamin. A multivitamin can contain all the vitamins that you need. You can also buy individual vitamins at your local pharmacy.

Talk to your doctor if you have concerns about your nutritional intake. You can find vitamins K and E in dark green leafy vegetable such as spinach, kale and turnip leaves, as well a variety of sweet potatoes and sweet potatoes.

Ask your doctor for advice if you are unsure how much vitamin to take. Based on your medical history and your current health, your doctor can recommend the correct dosage.

Take herbs and other supplements to improve your immunity

It is possible to boost immune function by using herbs and natural remedies. Examples include ginger, garlic and oregano oils, echinacea, vitamin C, ginkgo loba, and echinacea.

These herbs should not be considered as a substitute for conventional medical treatment. They may cause side effects such as nausea, diarrhea, stomach cramps, headaches, dizziness, and allergic reactions.

Is being cold bad for your immune system?

Cold makes you weaker because you have less white blood cells to fight infection. You will feel less pain if you are cold.

Some examples include vitamin C,B1 and B2 vitamins (thiamine), B2 and riboflavin, B3 and B6 vitamins (niacin), folic acids, biotin, pantothenic acids, and cholesterol. Fat-soluble vitamins are stored in the liver, fatty tissue and kidneys. You can find vitamin D, E K, A, beta carotene, and other fat-soluble vitamins.

Vitamins can be classified by their biological activity. There are eight major groups of vitamins:

  • C - important for proper nerve function and energy production.

  • E is needed for good reproduction and vision.
  • K - Essential for healthy muscles and nerves.
  • P - vital for building strong bones andteeth.
  • Q - aids digestion, absorption and absorption iron
  • R is required for the production of red blood cells.

The recommended daily allowance (RDA) of vitamins varies depending on age, gender, and physical condition. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration sets RDA values.

For adults over 19 years, the RDA is 400 mg per day for vitamin A. However, pregnant women need 600 micrograms per day because it is important for fetal development. Children ages 1-8 require 900 micrograms per day. Babies under one-year old require 700 mg per day. Between 9 and 12 years of age, however, this drops to 500 mg per day.

Children aged between 1-18 years require 800 micrograms of sugar per day, while overweight children need 1000 micrograms. Children who are underweight receive 1200 micrograms every day to meet their nutritional requirements.

Children aged 4-8 years old who have been diagnosed as having anemia require 2200 micrograms of vitamin C per day.

Adults over 50 years of age need 2000 micrograms per day for general health. Because of their higher nutrient needs, women who are pregnant or nursing need 3000 mg per day.

Adults over 70 need 1500 micrograms daily, as they lose 10% of their muscle every ten years.

Women who are pregnant or nursing need more than the RDA. Pregnant and breastfeeding women require 4000 micrograms each day during pregnancy and 2500 Micrograms each day after delivery. Breastfeeding moms need 5000 micrograms each day when breastmilk production occurs.
